Grenadine

Grenadine is a sweet, deep-red syrup originally made from pomegranate juice. Most commercial grenadines today — Rose’s being the most common — are mostly corn syrup and artificial color, with little actual pomegranate. It’s used in the Tequila Sunrise, Shirley Temple, and the classic Jack Rose. If you want the real thing, small-batch brands like Jack Rudy or Liber & Co. are a big step up, or you can simmer pomegranate juice with sugar at home.
