Ginger Beer

Ginger beer started as an alcoholic brew in England in the 1700s, but today most commercial versions are non-alcoholic. It has a much stronger ginger kick than ginger ale — spicier, cloudier, and with a more pronounced bite. It’s the defining ingredient in the Moscow Mule and the Dark ’n’ Stormy. Fever-Tree, Bundaberg, and Gosling’s all make solid options. The quality of your ginger beer matters a lot in these drinks — cheap ones taste flat and overly sweet.
