Eggnog

Every December, eggnog shows up on store shelves and divides people into those who love it and those who won’t touch it. Spiking it with bourbon, rum, or brandy is the whole point — George Washington reportedly had a recipe that called for all three plus whiskey. Store-bought from brands like Southern Comfort or Evan Williams works fine for parties, but homemade with fresh eggs, cream, and nutmeg on top is another level entirely. It’s also the base of a Tom and Jerry, a warm holiday classic worth reviving.
