Chartreuse

Only two Carthusian monks know the full recipe for Chartreuse at any given time, and they’ve kept it that way since 1737. Green Chartreuse (55% ABV) is herbal, intense, and the star of a Last Word. Yellow Chartreuse is mellower, sweeter, and works in stirred drinks. Both have become increasingly hard to find due to production limits — the monks refuse to scale up. If you see a bottle, grab it. A little goes a very long way, and it improves almost any drink it touches. Seriously one of the most fascinating spirits on earth.
