Campari

Campari is an Italian bitter liqueur, instantly recognizable by its deep red color. It was invented in 1860 by Gaspare Campari in Novara, Italy, and the recipe — said to include a blend of herbs, spices, bark, and citrus peel — has remained a trade secret ever since. It’s the star of the Negroni, the Americano, and the Boulevardier. Campari is an acquired taste — intensely bitter, slightly sweet, and very herbal. Most people hate it the first time. Give it three tries.
