Apricot Brandy

Apricot brandy was huge in pre-Prohibition cocktails and it’s making a quiet comeback. The Singapore Sling calls for it, as does the Charlie Chaplin and the Paradise cocktail. There’s a big quality range here — cheap versions are basically apricot-flavored sugar syrup, while Rothman & Winter and Giffard Abricot du Roussillon taste like real fruit with actual brandy backbone. Marie Brizard is another solid pick. Look for “apricot eau de vie” or “apricot liqueur” on nicer bottles. Around 20-25% ABV typically, so it adds fruit sweetness without too much heat.
