Amaretto di Saronno Liqueur

Disaronno — formerly Amaretto di Saronno — is the original Italian almond liqueur, though it’s actually made from apricot kernel oil, not almonds. That distinctive square bottle with the cap shaped like a Renaissance sculptor’s hat has been around since 1525, at least according to the brand’s legend. It’s the backbone of an Amaretto Sour (add egg white and bourbon for the Jeffrey Morgenthaler version — trust me). Also great in a Godfather with Scotch. At 28% ABV, it’s sweet enough to sip on its own over ice.
